The weekly weigh in that wasn't.

I plumb forgot to weigh in this morning, how do you like them apples?  Oh well.

I will say that I completed negated all physical activity yesterday by consuming many, many calories after the run.

And lookie what I saw at Costco on Friday.  Too bad I don't need a copy.  Maybe I should have picked one up for a giveway, ha ha.  Ladies Choice Collection...you don't say...

Legends of the Fall

My favorite movie of all time is Legends of the Fall.  I have mentioned this before (here and here.) I saw this movie for the first time in the theater back when it was released, and by now I have seen this movie more times than I can count; it's definitely in the hundreds.  I remember during one semester of college when I was taking only a math class while working full time.  Every Sunday, without fail, I would watch Legends of the Fall while doing my weekly homework.  Now I have this movie on my iPhone so that I can turn it on whenever I want to.  Sometimes if I can't sleep, a little dose of Tristan will be just the thing I need to send me off to dreamland.

They released a special edition of the movie which practically made me froth at the mouth, but then I found out it was only a few seconds of extra footage during the movie which only consisted of an extra sunrise.  I wanted more Tristan!  There were, however, some deleted scenes which kind of put a few parts of the movie into clearer perspective so that was nice.
This scene is not in the movie.
Every time I watch the movie, I wish for a different ending.  I cannot accept the fact that Tristan and Susannah don't end up together.  My favorite movie line of all time is when Susannah visits Tristan in jail and says to him, "I still sometimes dream that I am the mother of your children."  I have to keep from screaming at the TV "I wish that too!"  Seriously, I might have a sickness.  Why did Tristan marry Isabelle Two and have children with her?!  Why did Susannah and Alfred have to get married?!  My favorite scene from the movie is when Tristan comes riding up over the hill with all the horses.  You might say that I'm a little infatuated with Brad Pitt in that scene.  Okay, in that whole movie.  Okay, pretty much in general.  (As long as I don't think about him being with Angelina Jolie, that is.  I still don't accept that he and Jennifer Aniston are divorced.  It seems I have acceptance issues.)

I'm telling you about my love of this movie today so you'll understand how awesome my run was this morning.  I finally hooked a DVD player up to my treadmill TV and decided my inaugural movie/run should absolutely include Legends of the Fall!!  I started the day with 4 easy miles AND Tristan Ludlow!  Now, that is what I call a great start!

What is your favorite movie?  Have you ever watched it while running?

The ABCs of Me!

I'm jumping on the ABC bandwagon to share a few things about myself.

A. Age: 36 1/2 on Feb. 28.  My birthday is Aug. 28.

B. Bed size: Queen.  We slept in a double bed for the first 5 years of marriage, along with two dogs (see D).  When we got our Queen it felt like an ocean of room!  Now, with no dogs, but sometimes a 9 year old (see K) in bed with us, we could really use a King size.

C. Chore you dislike: toilets!  Especially after my son has had friends over.  Yuck!

D. Dogs: love dogs!  Have one yellow lab named Chance.  We used to have two dogs, a Dalmation named Dawson who died, and a black lab/rottweiler mix named Warrick who we had to give away. :-(  Warrick has probably passed on now too, otherwise he would be 14 now.

E. Essential start to your day: breakfast!!  I cannot skip breakfast EVER!  And coffee! (I wish I could answer "workout" on this one.)

F. Favorite color: purple

G. Gold or silver: silver, although my wedding ring is gold.  We were married in the 90s, what are you gonna do?

H. Height: 5' 5.5"  That .5 is kinda annoying because it's never a choice on a height chart or web form.  Do I choose 5'5" or 5'6"?  It makes me anxious. :)

I. Instrument(s) you played: clarinet from 5th grade through 9th grade.  I really like it until 9th grade when I changed schools and found that first chair in a small school was 14th (out of 16) in a large school.  You can call me a quitter on this one.  Oh, I was also a pro on the Magical Musical Thing in my childhood.

J. Job Title: Accounting Manager, although I don't manage anyone so I usually list Accountant.

K. Kids: 1 son who is 9.  We will stick with one, why mess with perfection?  I am a pet mom to 4.

L. Live: in Spokane, WA a.k.a. Spokompton or Spokane, USA.

M. Mom's name: Diane

N. Nicknames: my husband calls me honey; at home I sometimes forget I have a first name.  My dad called me Monkey Monkey when I was very little and then The Monk, but that has long since gone by the way side, thank goodness.

O. Overnight hospital stays: had my tonsils out and tubes put in when I was 4 (kids don't get that overnight stay these days).  I also spent the night when I had my son.

P. Pet peeves: plucking or waxing eyebrows.  Why can't a unibrow be high fashion?

Q. Quote from a movie: "I still sometimes wish that I am the mother of your children." Susannah to Tristan in Legends of the Fall (and when she says it I always wish it too!)

R. Righty or lefty: righty

S. Siblings: brother (40), stepbrother (30--for 3 more days), Stepbrother (32)

T. Time you wake up: later than I want to.

U. Underwear: yes.  Bikini only; no butt floss or whale tails for this girl.

V. Veggies you don't like: broccoli, some kinds of lettuce, radishes, I'm sure there are more.  I only like basic veggies.

W. What makes you run late: sleeping in (see T).

X. X-rays you've had: when I was 3 I swallowed a straight pin so I had my belly x-rayed.  Sure enough it was in there.  And then it came out--naturally.  Isn't that a fun story?  I also had my ankle x-rayed a couple years ago and my shin x-rayed last fall.

Y. Yummy food you make: pumpkin cheesecake and lasagna

Z. Zoo animal favorites: tigers and otters most, but I also find Meerkats and prairie dogs to be adorable.

Tag, you're it!  I challenge you to share the ABCs of you!

Honest Scrap Blog Award

Jessica over at See How She Runs passed on the Honest Scrap Blog Award to me.  Thank you.

I now must share 10 honest things about myself and then pass this award onto 4 other bloggers who have shown their honesty through their blogs.  (Note: I have taken a very long time to post about this as it was given to me on Nov. 18.)

1. I have three tattoos, one of which is on my left arm almost up to my shoulder.  I would get this tattoo removed if I had the money.  It's not that I don't like it, I actually still like the actual picture (it's a yin and yang with dolphins), it's just that having a tattoo on my arm is really not me.  I never go sleeveless except in a bathing suit (not often!) so no one ever gets to see the thing anyway.  Oh well, I was young once.  I like tattoos for the most part, when they are small and coverable.

2. I don't know what I want to be when I grow up.  I currently work as an accountant in a law firm.  I have been in my job, or a variation of it, for 11 years.  I have worked in finance or some capacity of it for 16 years.  I enjoy it and I am completely loyal to my employer.  But, if I knew what I really wanted to do, and felt like spending the time and money finishing my BA degree (I have an AA), I would go for it.  Life is too short to not pursue your passions, if you know what they actually are.  Luckily, I'm happy enough in my job that if I have it until retirement, I'll be okay with it.

3. I love reading.  I love getting caught up in a great book.  I actually feel bad for people who don't know the joy of reading and I am considering volunteering with an adult literacy program when my son gets older and I have more time.  I would also love to help children with reading.  I believe sharing my passion for reading with others would be an awesome way to "pay it forward".

4. I am afraid of going crazy.  Crazy people don't know they're crazy, right?  I am prone to depression and anxiety and I worry sometimes that I'll not snap out of it, that no amount of medication, therapy or exercise will help me.  How do people get so lost in it that they're driven to harm themselves or others?

5. I secretly wish I was a writer, but I have no skill.  I pretend to know how to form complete sentences on this blog.

6. I have an irrational fear of spiders.  I have had dreams about them.  I don't like seeing them or thinking about them.  And as much as I hate them, I can't kill them.  What if they touched me, or I heard them crunch?  Ick ick ick!  One time, when I was about 16 and visiting my mom in Seattle, a spider the size of a mouse came crawling into the room.  I stood on the chair for an hour until my mom got home to kill it for me.

7. I have an unhealthy addiction to all things Starbucks.  I love the drinks, the cups, the mugs, the bears, the logo, everything.  I have a bear collection, a city mug collection, and many, many of their other regular mugs.  If I told you how much money we spent this year at Starbucks, despite my husband being unemployed, you'd freak.  I'm freaking!

8. I am not sure if I believe in God yet or not.  I am exploring the possibilities and taking a spiritual journey.  I am enjoying what I am learning so far, but I have a lot of childhood baggage to get through.

9. I worry that my son will hate me for only having one child and that he'll grow up lonely.  My husband and I made a choice to have one child for various reasons, some of which I'll probably talk about on this blog someday.  I feel like I have enough with one child, but I still worry that I've made the wrong choice.

10. I have watched Legends of the Fall hundreds of times and I still wish for a different ending every time!

I am passing this blog award onto the following four people:

Ellen at  Fat Girl Wearing Thin (she has a really cute blog theme going on right now so go check it out!)
Stephanie at She's in There Somewhere
Katie at Finding the Thin Within
Lucy at Lucy's Journey
